We know there are numerous organizations looking for toy donations and we are extremely grateful you chose to send your contributions to The Miracle Shop.  It's a wise decision.  Since we opened in 2014, we have been trying hard to provide “charity with dignity.”   According to Robert Lupton’s book, Toxic Charity “Even the most kindhearted, rightly motivated giving —as innocent as giving Christmas toys to needy children—can exact an unintended toll on a parent’s dignity.”  It is Lupton’s belief that people who are always on the receiving end of handouts develop a helpless, entitled mentality.
